Es liegt bedeutend an der Hauptverkehrsroute, die von Muang Phra Nakhon, dem Zentrum des alten Khmer-Reiches (Siem Reap), verl\u00e4uft. Es wird angenommen, dass die alte Gemeinschaft im Muang Tam Heiligtum eine wichtige Verbindung zu anderen Siedlungen entlang der Khmer-Zivilisationsroute im Nordosten Thailands hatte.<\/p>\n<p>Der Historische Park Phanom Rung liegt in der Provinz Buriram, in der Region Isaan Thailands, nahe der Grenze zu Kambodscha. Phanom Rung ist Thailands gr\u00f6\u00dfter Khmer-Tempel und eine aufwendig restaurierte historische St\u00e4tte. Er bietet einen Einblick in die Vergangenheit und in die Zeit, als dieser Teil des Landes vom Khmer-Reich beherrscht wurde \u2013 einem m\u00e4chtigen Reich, das auch f\u00fcr die pr\u00e4chtigen Tempel von Angkor im benachbarten Kambodscha verantwortlich war.<\/p>\n<p>Der Historische Park Phanom Rung wurde zwischen dem 10. und 13. Jahrhundert n. Chr. erbaut, wobei ein Gro\u00dfteil der Bauarbeiten unter der Herrschaft von K\u00f6nig Suryavarman II. erfolgte. K\u00f6nig Suryavarman II. regierte das Khmer-Reich von 1113 bis 1150 w\u00e4hrend dessen goldener Epoche und war der Herrscher, der f\u00fcr das beeindruckende Angkor Wat im heutigen Kambodscha verantwortlich war.<\/p>\n<p>Phanom Rung wurde urspr\u00fcnglich als Hindu-Tempel erbaut, der Shiva, der transzendente Zerst\u00f6rer, gewidmet ist. Auf dem Gipfel eines erloschenen Vulkans gelegen, symbolisierte Phanom Rung den Berg Kailasa, den mythologischen Wohnsitz Shivas.<\/p>\n<p>In den sp\u00e4teren Jahren wurde Phanom Rung zu einer buddhistischen St\u00e4tte umgewandelt, wobei mehrere \u00c4nderungen und Erg\u00e4nzungen vorgenommen wurden. Nachdem die Anlage schlie\u00dflich in Verfall geraten war, wurde sie in den 1970er- und 1980er-Jahren restauriert, um ihren fr\u00fcheren Glanz zu zeigen, und 1988 wieder f\u00fcr die \u00d6ffentlichkeit ge\u00f6ffnet. Heute k\u00f6nnen Besucher den gr\u00f6\u00dften und am besten erhaltenen Khmer-Tempel Thailands erkunden.<\/p>\n<p>Eine weite Treppe f\u00fchrt den Berg hinauf zum kr\u00f6nenden Tempeljuwel. Vor der Hauptpagode liegt ein gro\u00dfer Innenhof, und man kann zahlreiche gut restaurierte Geb\u00e4ude und Schreine erkunden. \u00dcberqueren Sie Br\u00fccken, an deren Seiten steinne Nagas (mehrk\u00f6pfige Schlangen) herabgleiten, die die Verbindung zwischen Himmel und Erde symbolisieren. Besuchen Sie das Pavillon Phlab Phla \/ White Elephant House und sehen Sie die prunkvollen ehemaligen Umkleidebereiche der fr\u00fcheren K\u00f6nigsfamilien. Schlendern Sie \u00fcber den k\u00f6niglichen Weg und bewundern Sie die gro\u00dfen Sandsteinpfeiler mit sch\u00f6nen Lotusknospen an der Spitze.<\/p>\n<p>Der Hauptturm wird von zwei kleineren rechteckigen Geb\u00e4uden flankiert, von denen man annimmt, dass sie zur Aufbewahrung heiliger buddhistischer Schriften dienten. Der Hauptturm verf\u00fcgt \u00fcber vier Vorhallen, die nach Norden, S\u00fcden, Osten und Westen ausgerichtet sind, und die kleinere Sandsteinpagode besitzt einen pr\u00e4chtigen Altar. Schlendern Sie durch die langen, schmalen R\u00e4ume \u00fcber der inneren Galerie und erkunden Sie die verschiedenen Heiligt\u00fcmer rund um den Komplex.<\/p>\n<p>Viele Oberfl\u00e4chen der Tempelgeb\u00e4ude sind mit aufwendigen Schnitzereien verziert, die Geschichten aus der Hindu-Mythologie erz\u00e4hlen. Sorgf\u00e4ltig w\u00e4hrend der Restaurierungsarbeiten wieder zusammengesetzt, zeigen sie Darstellungen der verschiedenen Inkarnationen der hinduistischen G\u00f6tter sowie Bilder von Blumen und Szenen aus vergangenen Zeiten. Au\u00dferdem kann man kleine T\u00fcrmchen aus balancierten Steinen entdecken, die von gl\u00e4ubigen Besuchern w\u00e4hrend ihrer Pilgerreisen zum Komplex hinzugef\u00fcgt
