Die Einheimischen nennen Samut Songkhram \u201aMae Klong\u00a0<\/p><p>Samut Songkhram liegt an der M\u00fcndung des Mae Klong Flusses zur Bucht von Bangkok (oberer Golf von Thailand). Mit mehreren Kan\u00e4len (Khlong) wird das Wasser des Flusses zur Bew\u00e4sserung in der Provinz verteilt. An der K\u00fcste befinden sich viele Seen zur Herstellung von Meersalz. Der Sandbank Don Hoi Lot an der Flussm\u00fcndung ist bekannt f\u00fcr seine endemische Muschelpopulation der Solen regularis.<\/p><p>Die Gesamtfl\u00e4che betr\u00e4gt 416,7 km\u00b2 (etwa 160,9 Quadratmeilen). Es kann als die kleinste Provinz Thailands betrachtet werden. Die gesamte Waldfl\u00e4che betr\u00e4gt 30 km\u00b2 (12 Quadratmeilen) oder 7,3 Prozent der Provinzfl\u00e4che.<\/p><p>Samut Songkhram oder Mae Klong oder Suan Nok (Au\u00dfengarten) war fr\u00fcher ein Teil von Mueang Ratchaburi. Der alte Name von Mae Klong lautet Bang Chang, das im Tambon Amphawa, Samut Songkhram (vom heutigen Bezirk) seinen Mittelpunkt hatte. W\u00e4hrend des \u00dcbergangs von der Ayutthaya- zur Thon Buri-Periode wurde es von Ratchaburi getrennt und erhielt den Namen Mueang Mae Klong.<\/p><p>Samut Songkhram war historisch bedeutend w\u00e4hrend der Gr\u00fcndung von Thon Buri als Hauptstadt des K\u00f6nigreichs durch K\u00f6nig Taksin den Gro\u00dfen. Als die Burmesen eine Armee nach Tambon Bang Kung f\u00fchrten, versammelte der K\u00f6nig die Bev\u00f6lkerung, um eine Festung zu bauen und die Stadt vor der Einnahme durch die burmesischen Truppen zu sch\u00fctzen. Dies war damals ein wichtiger Widerstand gegen die burmesischen Invasoren.<\/p><p>Mueang Mae Klong (eigentlich ausgesprochen \u201aMae Glawng\u2018) \u00e4nderte seinen Namen in Samut Songkhram, aber das genaue Jahr ist nicht bekannt. Es wird angenommen, dass dies zwischen 1752 und 1756 geschah, da der Name der Provinz erstmals in Belegen aus dem ersten erlassenen thail\u00e4ndischen Gesetz auftaucht: Sp\u00e4ter wurde ein Erlass gefunden, der aus der Regierungszeit von K\u00f6nig Borom Urn Baromgoate im Jahr 1756 stammt und als Befehl an Lord Rattanathibet, den Gro\u00dfmarschall des Hofes, identifiziert wurde. Das Besondere f\u00fcr Touristen ist der Moment, wenn der Zug in den Bahnhof einf\u00e4hrt oder abf\u00e4hrt \u2013 alle H\u00e4ndler r\u00e4umen dann blitzschnell ihre Waren von den Gleisen und stellen sie danach sofort wieder zur\u00fcck.<\/p><p>Er gilt als eine der erstaunlichen Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten Thailands in der Provinz. Der Markt erstreckt sich \u00fcber eine L\u00e4nge von etwa 100 Metern und befindet sich direkt an den Bahngleisen in der N\u00e4he des Mae Klong-Bahnhofs im Bezirk Mueang, Provinz Samut Songkhram. Es handelt sich um einen typischen Frischmarkt, auf dem Meeresfr\u00fcchte, Gem\u00fcse, Obst, frische und getrocknete Lebensmittel, Fleisch und verschiedene andere Waren verkauft werden.<\/p><p style=\"font-size: 16.0016px;\">Der Mae Klong Eisenbahnmarkt ist t\u00e4glich von 6:00 bis 18:00 Uhr ge\u00f6ffnet. Er wird als \u201alebensgef\u00e4hrlicher Markt\u2018 bezeichnet, da seine St\u00e4nde direkt an den Gleisen der Bahnstrecke Mae Klong\u2013Ban Laem stehen \u2013 eine kurze Zugverbindung zwischen Mahachai und Mae Klong. Die Verk\u00e4ufer spannen Sonnenschirme oder Planen auf, um sich vor der Sonne zu sch\u00fctzen. Diese \u00dcberdachungen ragen bis in die Gleise hinein, wo Besucher entlanggehen und einkaufen.<\/p><p>Sobald das Signal eines herannahenden Zuges ert\u00f6nt, bricht ein hektisches Treiben aus: Die Verk\u00e4ufer eilen, um ihre Sonnenschirme und Planen einzuklappen und alle Waren zu entfernen, die dem schnell fahrenden Zug im Weg stehen k\u00f6nnten. Sobald der Zug vorbeigefahren ist, werden die Planen und Schirme wieder ge\u00f6ffnet und die Waren kehren an ihren gewohnten Platz direkt neben den Gleisen zur\u00fcck.<\/p><p>Daher wird der Markt auch \u201aHoop Rom\u2018 genannt, was so viel bedeutet wie \u201aMarkt des Schirm-Zuklappens\u2018. Dieses Vorgehen ist f\u00fcr die H\u00e4ndler und Einheimischen ganz normal \u2013 doch f\u00fcr Touristen ist das Schauspiel bei jedem Besuch ein spannendes und unterhaltsames Erlebnis<\/p><p>In dieser Gegend findet man nicht nur Meeresfr\u00fcchte, Gem\u00fcse, Obst, frische und getrocknete Lebensmittel sowie Fleisch.
